SOUTH AFRICA – Report by Kathy Stylianou,
- Copies of the message from Karen Serres to some of our Member Branches of CWAA were sent and at the October Meeting of CWAA local Branch. This was actually on the 12th October when they have their usual meeting for the month plus minus 50 members.
- On the 7th October Mrs Stylianou had a visit from the South African Director General of Agriculture Ms Bongiwe Njobe. She came to discuss her involvement with women and young people.
A Workshop was organised in Pretoria on the 16th October for World Food Day. Mrs Stylianou spoke at this occasion.
While Ms Njobe was here Mrs Stylianou showed her the letter from IFAP --the message from Karen, as well as the Recommendations by Women Farmers on the Biodiversity for Food Security as that was the theme of the Workshop, as well as some notes re the IFAP Women's Standing Committee recommendations to assist the rural poor.
These IFAP documents were all distributed at the World Food Day Workshop in Pretoria which was also attended by the Minister of Agriculture who is a woman Ms Thoka Didiza.. IFAP message was therefore widely distributed.
