    Zambian Women in Agriculture, Zambia

THEME : "Towards Greater Women's Access to Land and Water"

      ACTIVITY

On the early morning of the 15th October the Zambian Television Video team left for Lukanga Rural Female Farmers Communal Farm and Multi Purpose Centre travelling 165 miles distance. After filming the activities we all went to the chiefs palace about twenty kilometres in outlying rural area to present our concerns about our non-titled land.

We had prepared a speech and a letter for him to sign authorising us to legally own the land ALAS! the chief deliberately absented himself. Nevertheless he left his representative to listen to us.

      EXHIBITION

We exhibited our fresh agriculture produce and processed products.

We displayed our posters and we read our speech with our concerns and constraints on land issues; highlighting the fact that we have visibily and profitably utilised the land not only to our organisations benefits but also to the benefit of the community and the Nation, evidenced by what we have on display.

      BRAII
We then made open fire and treated the Headmen to a Braii. We used cabbage outer green leaves as plates. Isn't that very innovative?
